The Future Hamburg Award 2021 will be announced as part of the virtual event “Hamburg on Tour in Tel Aviv”.

The Future Hamburg Award is the international startup award of the City of Hamburg. It was launched in 2018, with as many as 120 submissions from 26 countries at the time. The Future Hamburg Award calls on the best startups worldwide to submit their innovative projects and solutions for a mobile, economically strong, sustainable and livable city of the future, and gives them the opportunity to develop them further as part of a test lab.

The 2021 award focuses on the following topics:

Maritime logistics: How can ports become greener and smarter?
Mobility: How will people and goods move around in the future?
Green hydrogen: How can hydrogen be used as an alternative to fossil fuels?

The winner of the award will receive a one-month stay at Plug and Play’s Sunnyvale office. Within a network of over 220 companies from Silicon Valley, the startup will be able to advance its business model and engage with an international community.

Moreover, they will get the unique opportunity to test their innovative project on-site in Hamburg in collaboration with the cooperation-partners Hamburg Port Authority and Hafen Invest, one of the city’s biggest startup investors.

At the digital event “Hamburg meets Tel Aviv – Moving towards the City of the Future” on 1 and 2 December 2020, the second edition of the Future Hamburg Award will be presented to the public for the first time. You can book tickets here.

The award is aimed at fostering innovative approaches towards increasing the sustainability of metropolitan regions.

Thus, the City of Hamburg is inviting the world’s best startups to address important urban challenges in three focal areas: logistics and mobility are key factors in driving innovation and change to improve the infrastructure of cities, and green hydrogen can become a real game-changer for urban life in the near future.

The startup programme was initiated in 2018 by Hamburg Invest’s Startup Unit and Hamburg Marketing. As a new partner, the international innovation platform Plug and Play will be providing a full month of access to their extensive international accelerator programme in Silicon Valley, California.

Additionally, the winning startup will get the opportunity to test its project in Hamburg, establish an international business network and meet new investors.

Startups can submit their projects for the award from January 2021 via the link https://future.hamburg/en/apply.
