Swedish Energy Startup Engrate Raises €2.5M Seed Funding for Green Energy Platform
Engrate, the Swedish energy startup accelerating the green energy transition with its digital integration platform, has secured €2.5 million in new funding. The round includes both international and Swedish investors with deep expertise within the sector. With the new capital, Engrate will further develop its integration platform and prepare for international expansion, with a focus on Northern Europe.
Enabling Faster Renewable Energy Transition Through Digital Integration
Engrate’s vision is to enable a faster and smoother shift to renewable energy by offering seamless software integration solutions that reduce time-to-market and complexity for energy companies.
Since its founding in January 2024, the company has already secured the fast-growing energy company Flower as a customer and participated in Norrsken’s Accelerator Programme. Engrate previously raised over €500K from Dutch VC firm NP Hard and several angel investors.
Strong Investor Backing from Energy-Focused VCs
The company has now raised an additional €2.5 million, led by global VC firm Maniv, which focuses on transportation and energy solutions. Other investors include Eviny Ventures of the Norwegian renewable energy solutions provider Eviny, and the Swedish VC firm Course Corrected.
The new funding will be used to develop the platform further, with an emphasis on simplifying digital integrations for energy companies aiming to increase grid flexibility.
Electricity consumption is expected to double within the next 10–20 years. To handle that amount of electricity, we require smart digital solutions that enable seamless collaboration and communication across the energy sector to ensure efficient and sustainable production.
With this new funding, we can further develop Engrate’s platform to meet the growing need for simple, scalable integrations, both in Sweden and globally.
says Anna Engman, co-founder and CEO, Engrate.
Addressing Critical Infrastructure Challenges in Energy Digitalisation
Digital communication between systems and devices in the electricity sector is critical but complex to build and maintain. As energy companies enter new markets or launch new services, extensive integrations are needed to connect with local grid operators and regulatory frameworks.
Engrate’s digital platform harmonises data sources and reduces integration complexity, allowing customers to focus on growth and building the energy systems of tomorrow.
Lead investor Maniv sees major potential in Engrate’s approach to energy sector digitalisation.
The energy sector’s digital maturity remains woefully underdeveloped. We believe Engrate’s capabilities represent a critical node in the comprehensive digitalisation of a sector that must quickly adapt to changing market dynamics.
With a spectacular founding team and clear vision, we are confident the company will continue to deliver world-class technology solutions and are delighted to join Engrate’s journey ahead.
commented Nate Jaret, Partner at Maniv which led the financing round.
Experienced Leadership Team Driving Energy Innovation
The founding team’s deep industry experience was crucial in identifying and addressing the energy sector’s integration challenges. CEO Anna Engman brings extensive scaling experience from technology companies, having served as CMO and co-founder at Mine Storage, alongside leadership roles in marketing and sales.
With a background in psychology (MSc and BSc), she was inspired to found Engrate after observing firsthand the energy sector’s outdated digital infrastructure that significantly slows the green energy transition.
I noticed that many companies in the energy industry still manually move data and build their own integrations instead of using connectivity as a service, leading to high costs, complexity, and delays.
This inefficiency motivated me to create a platform that could accelerate the entire energy industry.
explains Engman.
CTO Richard Eklund brings critical technical expertise from his previous role as CTO at Tibber, where he built Europe’s largest consumer-based virtual powerplant.
His background includes senior engineering roles at Spotify, where he was one of the first web developers helping scale the web team, and Volvo Cars as Technical Director. At Tibber, Eklund experienced the integration challenges firsthand, facing the costly and time-consuming process of connecting hundreds of systems and thousands of devices.
The energy sector needs to innovate at the speed the climate demands.
Our platform enables energy companies to focus on innovation rather than connectivity challenges, which is critical for accelerating the green transition.
says Eklund.
