Bologna is the city that will host WMF – We Make Future, the International Fair conceived and organized by Search On Media Group, for the next 3 years.

On 13 – 15 June 2024, WMF – We Make Future will take place in Bologna, at the BolognaFiere exhibition center. This decision, made by the owner and organizer Search On Media Group, aligns with the increasingly significant development of WMF, an internationally recognized fair focusing on Technological and Digital Innovation, which, in its last edition, recorded over 60,000 attendees from 89 countries and involved 670 exhibitors, more than 2,000 startups and investors, and over 1,000 speakers from around the world.

The relocation of the event from Rimini to Bologna represents not only an opportunity for fair expansion, thanks to the international hyperconnectivity that has always distinguished this capital of the Emilia-Romagna region, but also a new horizon of possibilities for companies, startups, professionals, NGOs, students, institutions, and generally, players in the AI & Digital-Tech sector who will participate each year, mainly boosting the internationalization of innovative Made in Italy.

WMF - We Make Future Moves to Bologna

An important international event, which will contribute to strengthening Bologna’s leadership in the fields of artificial intelligence and Digital-Tech, and which will see WMF – We Make Future grow and interact with our city’s unique Knowledge ecosystem for the next three years.

This news comes in a truly memorable week for BolognaFiere, which began with the historic stock market listing and ends today with the announcement of this new important partnership. I thank everyone who worked to make this possible.

stated Matteo Lepore, the Bologna Mayor

I am happy to welcome this event, which speaks of the technological and digital future, into our fair calendar, in full consistency with the city’s development. The collaboration with Search On started from smaller events we hosted at the Congress Palace. We Make Future has already exceeded 60,000 visitors.

The international stage of BolognaFiere will certainly contribute to competing with events in the same sector in Lisbon, which exceeds 70,000 visitors, and in Paris, 150,000. As already happened with Auto e Moto d’Epoca, once again Bologna, at the centre of the country’s logistics and with a large and efficient exhibition centre, demonstrates its attractiveness for major events.

said Gianpiero Calzolari, the President of BolognaFiere.

Giving a direct voice to the Event was the

In the last two years, we have received several requests from foreign cities to transfer WMF. We chose to remain in Italy, in our country, to continue from here the path of acceleration of innovation, culture, and training of which WMF has always been a tool.

Choosing a city like Bologna, already a technological avant-garde hub with the Tecnopolo and the vibrant local innovative fabric, means extending the reach of WMF as a global platform for building a sustainable and inclusive future, aimed at involving and connecting as many skills, creativity, and visions from all over the world. We will work hard to ensure that WMF in Bologna is even more a tool at the service of the global society.

Thank you goes anyway to the city of Rimini, which has welcomed us in recent years and which has been an important piece in the evolution of the event.

added Cosmano Lombardo, Founder and CEO of Search On Media Group, as well as the creator of WMF – We Make Future.

Roadshow and International Connections

WMF – We Make Future, is a project active 365 days a year both in Italy and abroad, with a series of initiatives aimed at all actors of the global society, from students and young people to major market players and international institutions.

Among the international initiatives, it’s worth mentioning the International Roadshow, the itinerant project of WMF launched in 2021, which to date, with its stops and satellite events, has reached 29 states and 5 continents.

The main goal is to create a global open innovation network that facilitates a virtuous circle of skills and connections between local ecosystems around the world, to widen the range of innovative action through new meeting and business opportunities that allow to systematize skills and propose concrete solutions to the most pressing challenges for the community.

The International Roadshow, therefore, represents an important catalyst for a journey that sees WMF and its three days of the event each year as the main stage and crucial moment of encounter between the countries and ecosystems involved during the year.

Among the foreign cities visited this autumn, particularly noteworthy are Thessaloniki, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Valencia, and finally Belgrade, the latter hosting the Italy-Serbia Innovation Forum “Matchmaking for Innovation,” the result of a synergistic collaboration between the Italian Embassy, ICE, the Serbian Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, the Department of Information and Telecommunications of the Republic of Serbia, the Lombardy Region, the support of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce – PKS, Impact Hub Belgrade, and WMF – We Make Future.

So, the appointment is in Bologna for WMF 2024, scheduled from June 13 to 15 at the BolognaFiere exhibition centre for a new, larger edition rich in opportunities and a renewed occasion for international meetings and exchanges.
