Sérgio Laranjeira is the first key hire for Metacore’s Berlin location
Metacore appoints former Delivery Hero and Zalando leader as CTO to build scalable tech stack for their game portfolio.
Mobile game developer Metacore has appointed Sérgio Laranjeira as their Chief Technology Officer. Most recently Senior Director of Engineering at Delivery Hero and previously Engineering Manager at Zalando and N26, Laranjeira has significant experience in building and leading engineering teams for some of the world’s largest consumer brands. Laranjeira will start in his new CTO role in January 2024 and be responsible for developing Metacore’s technology platform and infrastructure.
To build world-class games, we need world-class technology – especially given the technological complexity of modern mobile games.
says Metacore CEO Mika Tammenkoski.
Sérgio is a crucial and long-awaited addition to our rapidly growing team: he’s led large engineering teams for some of the world’s best-known consumer brands, and has hands-on experience in building complex tech products.
His work will not only support our Merge Mansion team, but above all, enable us to build a technology platform capable of supporting a portfolio of hit games.
Metacore’s growth journey is impressive, and there’s a massive potential to be untapped with building a portfolio of games. I’m embracing the challenge of a new tech setup that will help the company grow even further.
comments Sérgio Laranjeira.
Working in gaming has been a long time dream for me and I can’t wait to join the talented and passionate team in January and bring my experience to the benefit of creating new hit games.
Laranjeira is the first hire for Metacore Berlin, where the mobile game developer started to expand in October 2023. Instead of acting as a separate studio, the Berlin location operates as an extension of the Helsinki headquarters. Metacore is recruiting for a Merge Mansion feature team to Berlin, with multiple roles open and more coming.
